Kiplin Hall & Gardens in North Yorkshire have created flying zones for Drone pilots.
NOTE: This story has now changed, due to some irresponsible drone pilots, chasing animals with their drone (I am told), Kiplin Hall no longer allows drones
The estate have issued a "Drone access policy", which creates 2 flying zones to take in the amazing lake and parkland areas.
It's thought to be he first of it's kind for recreational drone pilots in the UK.
The director of Kiplin Hall has been reported to say that "Kiplin Hall and Gardens is a large estate offering 90 acres of land and a lake. The estate has a long tradition of recreation.."
"Built as a hunting lodge in the 1620's ad throughout its life as a family home Kiplin has hosted various pursuits including, boating, fishing, orienteering, walking and trail running, even curling on the frozen lake in winter"
Kiplin Hall and gardens offer an amazing place for drone pilots with opportunities for great Drone Adventures.
Drone flights will be paused in the lambing and bird nesting season. This trial is starting through the autumn months which is traditionally quieter for the hall.
Pilots wanting to fly at Kiplin Hall and Gardens will need to produce their flier ID, Operator ID and proof of insurance on arrival and must follow the Drone Code.
The full drone access policy can be viewed here.
A number of estates, including the National Trust have banned the takeoff of drones on their land. This doesn't stop you from taking off from land that they don't own and flying OVER their land See the video below for more details on how you can legally do this.
