Ravenscar: The Resort That Never Was
Ravenscar is a small village on the Yorkshire coast, about 10 miles north of Scarborough. It is known for its dramatic clifftop views, its beautiful beaches, and its rich history.
In the late 19th century, Ravenscar was slated to become a major seaside resort. A railway station was built, and several hotels and villas were constructed. However, the resort never really took off, and most of the buildings were eventually abandoned.
Today, Ravenscar is a quiet and peaceful place. It is a popular destination for walkers, hikers, and nature lovers. The village is also home to a number of historical sites, including a Roman signal station, a disused alum works, and a World War II radar station.
If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Yorkshire coast, Ravenscar is the perfect destination. The village has something to offer everyone, from history buffs to nature lovers.
The Railway Station
The Ravenscar railway station was built in 1897 as part of the North Eastern Railway's Scarborough to Whitby line. The station was originally called Peak, but it was renamed Ravenscar in 1901.
The station closed to passengers in 1965. The station building is now a private residence.
Ravenscar railway station was closed on 8 March 1965 as part of the Beeching Axe. The Beeching Axe was a series of cuts to the British railway network that were implemented by the British Railways Board under the leadership of Dr Richard Beeching. The cuts were intended to reduce the financial losses that the railways were making, and Ravenscar railway station was one of many stations that were closed as a result.
Ravenscar railway station was a small station that served a relatively remote area. The station was not particularly profitable, and it was also prone to flooding. As a result, the decision was made to close the station.
The closure of Ravenscar railway station was a major blow to the local community. The station was an important link for the local people, and it was also a popular tourist destination. The closure of the station made it more difficult for people to travel to and from the area, and it also had a negative impact on tourism.
In recent years, there have been calls to reopen Ravenscar railway station. However, there are a number of challenges that would need to be overcome before the station could be reopened. These challenges include the cost of reopening the station, the need to upgrade the infrastructure, and the need to secure funding.
Despite these challenges, there is still hope that Ravenscar railway station could be reopened in the future. The station is a popular tourist destination, and it would provide a much-needed link between the local community and the rest of the country.

Drone Video of Ravenscar Station
It's just a short video as someone from one of the local houses came out and told me the F*** off as the drone was annoying him, so I thought that I'd better not stay too long.
