Filey Brigg: A Photographer's Paradise with Coastal Charm

Filey Brigg holds a special place in my heart. Unlike the hustle and bustle of bigger resorts like Scarborough, Filey offers a charming escape with its star attraction – Filey Brigg. This dramatic headland isn't just a photographer's dream (as some of my popular pictures can attest!), it's a place for relaxation, exploration, and stunning coastal vistas.

Picnic with a View

One of the things I love most about Filey Brigg is the sheer space it offers. The well-maintained Filey Brigg Country Park is perfect for a picnic, especially with the abundance of fish and chip shops in Filey town. Imagine spreading out a blanket, indulging in some fresh fish and chips, and soaking in the incredible sea views – pure bliss! Parking on the grass is very convenient for large groups, with prices at a reasonable £2.20 for an hour or £6 for four hours.

A Walk on the Wild Side (Well, Not That Wild)

The walk down from the Brigg to the beach might seem daunting at first – it is a bit of a hill. But don't let that deter you! The path is well-maintained, and the reward at the bottom is absolutely worth it. Plus, the climb back up offers a good dose of exercise after all that delicious fish and chips!

🪁 Kites Take Flight! (But Drones Beware!)

The flat open space on top of the Brigg is a kite flyer's paradise. I've seen some truly impressive displays of color and ingenuity dancing in the wind here. Just remember, if you're thinking of bringing a drone along for some aerial photography (like me!), be mindful of the radio-controlled gliders that often take advantage of the thermals rising from the cliffs. Safety first!

A Timeless Allure

Filey Brigg's charm goes beyond the breathtaking views and geological wonders. It's a place to relax, reconnect with nature, and capture memories that last a lifetime. So next time you're in Filey, take some time to explore this captivating headland. You might just discover your own little slice of paradise.
