Arthington Viaduct: An impressive feat of engineering that is well worth a visit.

Arthington Viaduct is a Grade II listed viaduct that carries the Harrogate Line across the River Wharfe in North Yorkshire, England. It is a beautiful and impressive structure that is well worth a visit.

The viaduct was built between 1845 and 1849 by Thomas Grainger, who also built the nearby Bramhope Tunnel. It is made of sandstone and limestone and is 460 meters long and 21 meters high. The viaduct has 21 arches, each of which is 12 meters wide.

Arthington Viaduct was built to allow the Leeds and Thirsk Railway to reach Harrogate. The railway was opened in 1849 and was a major success. The viaduct played an important role in the development of Harrogate as a tourist destination.
