If you grew up in Cleethorpes or the surrounding area, chances are you have fond memories of visiting Pleasure Island. This beloved amusement park has been a staple of the local community for over 25 years, providing endless fun and excitement for generations of visitors.
Pleasure Island was first opened in 1993, on a large plot of land near the seafront. The park was built by a team of experienced designers and engineers, who wanted to create a world-class destination that would rival the best amusement parks in the world.
From the very beginning, Pleasure Island was a huge success. The park featured a variety of rides and attractions, including roller coasters, water rides, and classic fairground games. There was something for everyone, whether you were a thrill-seeker looking for an adrenaline rush, or a family looking to enjoy a fun day out.
One of the most unique features of Pleasure Island was its emphasis on live entertainment. The park hosted a variety of shows and performances throughout the day, ranging from magic shows to animal acts to live music. Visitors could also explore a variety of themed areas, each with its own unique atmosphere and attractions.
Over the years, Pleasure Island continued to grow and evolve. The park added new rides and attractions, including a large indoor play area and a 4D cinema. They also hosted a variety of special events throughout the year, such as Halloween parties and Christmas celebrations.
Sadly, in 2016, the owners of Pleasure Island announced that the park would be closing for good. Despite a strong public outcry, the decision was ultimately made to sell the land to developers, and the park closed its doors for the last time in 2017.
Today, the former site of Pleasure Island is being redeveloped into a new retail and leisure complex, but the memories of the park live on. For generations of visitors, Pleasure Island will always be remembered as a place of fun, excitement, and unforgettable experiences.
